Module 2

Decolonisation in Leadership and Identity 
This topic equipped me with the knowledge to define the construct of colonisation and decolonisation.​ I wrote an essay which explores different theories surrounding visualities and counter-visualities as seen in artworks and forms of popular media. It argues that these forms of media can be used to either perpetuate or combat Colonisation in Modern South Africa. The leadership persona’s role in Decolonisation is also discussed as they can use their influence to encourage other to re-establish their identities.

Module 3 

Sexuality and the Contextual Gender Construct​

This section has helped me to develop a vocabulary to describe and engage with gender and sexuality. I have reflected on my own personal bias to the social and religious context of sexuality and I have engaged with theoretical approaches to Queerness. All of this has assisted me in my experiment where I engaged with sexual and gender discrimination by seeing if people rely on stereotypes related to sexuality and gender when looking at strangers. (More)

Deconstructing Privilege in the South African Context
I have developed an understanding of privilege, its impact, influence and origins. To showcase my understanding I had to prepare a talk on Privilege. (More)

Module 5

Rape Culture within Feminist Theory
When considering Feminist theory, one needs to engage on female suffrage and the origins of feminism and other critical theories. That is what we did in this section in order to gain a deeper understanding of the construct of Rape Culture. We had class discussions about consent and gender and societal responsibility. This helped us all to understand the impact of Rape Culture and to develop a vocabulary to describe and engage on Rape Culture. Al though I have been a feminist for many years now I feel that I have developed an even better comprehension of Feminism. (More)

Module 6

Race in a Multifaceted Society
Racism and its impact was discussed in this section. We engaged with the leadership influences of racism and developed  an understanding of transformation and the application thereof within leadership. Considering the legacy of Apartheid  in modern racism  I created a series of vlogs explaining examples of what I believe to be remnants of the past. (More)

Module 7

Communicating the self as a Corporate identity
 Branding Yourself Through Social Positioning: This section was all about grasping the concept of a personal brand, developing the ability to use social media to focus your digital as well as the developing the ability to build reputation by aligning actions with communications. We discussed employability and engaged creatively with our CV’S and how to effectively circulate a CV through modern channels. We also developed  knowledge of interviews and interview techniques. Module 8

Leadership Complexity and the Intersection of Social Justice
The importance of the impact of complexities in leadership engagements has been emphasised in this section. Complexities are indeed complex, but, I feel like I have a better understanding of complexities and that I can discern between simple and complex societal systems. For this section I have created a butterfly mosaic to explain my understanding of complexities. (More)

Module 9

Organised Leadership Approaches within Structured Leadership Design 
This section prepared us for camp facilitation. We Developed an understanding of leadership structures and design by defining leadership approaches and intervention. We engaged with leadership training, developed facilitation skills and discussed theoretical and practical leadership exposure. I have been applying this theory through actively engaging with my fellow leaders and peers and by being careful about my self representation online. I have also been working on my CV and exploring creative ways to write my resume. 

Module 10

Proactive Leadership Performance 
Our practical engagement with this module has been enriching. We were facilitators at the DSA 233 camp and had to actively engage on leadership prospective and use management skills when dealing with the young student leaders. (More) 

Module 11

Presenting a Conclusive Body of Evidence

This entire website is part of this section. We were asked to develop a body of evidence and to gain an understanding of digital archiving and record keeping. I have engaged with interaction international platforms and I now understand the visual persona and how presentation of this persona effects the self.

I feel like I have developed photographic, digital editing and academic writing skills by working on this project. I have definitely learnt a lot about multi media and production skills that will come in handy in future endeavours. I feel like I have improved my self-expression and social and interactive media skills. I also understand media tools and their application in leadership development.
